Wildly Popular Books - About Us

Our Mission

Wildly Popular Books creates thoughtful children’s books that meet kids exactly where they are and invite calm, curiosity, and imagination.

We create picture books for real life. For bedtime, quiet afternoons, classrooms, and shared reading moments. Our stories are visually engaging, gently humorous read alouds that do not teach lessons, correct behavior, or explain morals.

We believe children deserve stories that are open ended and respectful. There is no agenda hiding in the pages. No fixing. No lecturing. Just space for connection, observation, and imaginative play.

Each book is crafted to support creativity, emotional awareness, and presence without labeling or instruction. Children experience the story in their own way. Adults can share it without framing or explanation.

Wildly Popular Books are designed for ages 4 to 8 and fit naturally in homes, classrooms, libraries, and counseling spaces. They are made to be returned to again and again.

Our Story

Wildly Popular Books began with a simple observation. Many children’s books were trying to do something to kids. Teach, correct, explain, or improve. We wanted to make books that protected imagination instead. Books that could be opened without an objective and trusted a child’s inner world to lead. The first stories grew out of ordinary moments. A bored child, a quiet walk, a pause where imagination reappeared on its own. Those moments became the foundation of our work. Every book we create is designed to make room for imagination to stretch, wander, and return, with careful attention to pacing, language, and visual rhythm, and with space for curiosity and silence to do their part. Wildly Popular Books is for parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors, and librarians who believe imagination is not something to teach or manage, but something to notice, protect, and trust.

Little Seymor: Adventures in Imagination

A whimsical, imagination-forward children’s picture book about a screen-savvy kid who rediscovers the magic of seeing the world differently during a walk with his grandpa

When Wi-Fi disappears and boredom sets in, Seymor is convinced there is nothing interesting left to find. But a simple walk, cloud-watching, and playful conversation open a door he didn’t realize had quietly closed. Suddenly, clouds become animals, trees hide secrets, and the ordinary landscape turns into a living canvas of creativity.

This book is perfect for parents looking for a gentle, funny read-aloud that celebrates imagination without teaching lessons, correcting behavior, or explaining morals. It meets children exactly where they are. Curious, distracted, funny, and full of potential.

Little Seymor is ideal for ages 4–8 and shines during moments when a child feels bored, overstimulated, or disconnected. It reassures both kids and parents that imagination is still there. It just needs a little room to stretch.

Warm, humorous, and visually playful, this story reminds readers that not everything meaningful comes from a screen, and that some of the best things can’t be downloaded at all.

I wanna see cool stuff!

Oh, Seymor: The Day Imagination Disappeared

A thoughtful, art-forward children’s picture book about change, disappointment, and the quiet way imagination waits for us when we are not ready

After rediscovering imagination, Seymor is faced with something new. His best friend Birdie hears a mysterious call and chooses to follow it. Confused and discouraged, Seymor decides to stay behind. Change feels unsettling. Hope feels risky. And imagination suddenly feels like the thing that led him astray.

Rather than pushing forward, Seymor does what many children do when feelings feel too big. He closes the door on wonder because it feels safer than being disappointed again.

This gentle, visually rich story follows Seymor through moments of stillness, resistance, and quiet reflection, until one scrappy little dog begins to tug him back toward curiosity, color, and the possibility that imagination never truly disappears. It simply waits.

Oh, Seymor is ideal for parents seeking a calm, emotionally honest read-aloud that respects children’s inner worlds without turning feelings into lessons. It offers space rather than solutions and invites conversation without instruction.

Perfect for ages 4–8, this picture book shines during moments of transition, friendship changes, or when a child feels hesitant about what comes next. It reassures both children and adults that it is okay to pause, to resist, and to return to imagination in one’s own time.

Warm, gentle, and quietly humorous, Oh, Seymor is a beautiful reminder that imagination is not something we lose. It is something we come back to when we are ready.

Oh, I want this!

Now, Seymor: The Day He Let Imagination Back In

A children’s picture book that pairs playful art with quiet insight, exploring imagination, resistance, and the moment curiosity returns on its own.

In this third book of the Seymor series, Seymor has made up his mind. Imagination leads to thinking. Thinking leads to change. And change is not something Seymor is interested in. He prefers things familiar and predictable. Barns make sense. Windows should stay closed. And a perfectly good thought from thirty years ago ought to be plenty.

When his scrappy little dog Fooey invites him to look a little closer, Seymor is reluctant. But slowly, almost by accident, he begins to notice things he thought he had left behind. Strange shapes. Bright colors. Old joys. The kind that sneak up on you when you are not trying. As Seymor looks again, he discovers a surprising truth. Shutting down imagination does not make life easier. It only makes it smaller.

Told with gentle humor and rich, dreamlike illustrations, Now, Seymor honors a familiar childhood experience: the urge to keep things the same because change feels risky. Rather than pushing growth or delivering a lesson, the story allows imagination to return quietly, through noticing and play.

Ideal for ages 4–8, Now, Seymor is a calm, emotionally respectful read-aloud for families who value thoughtful children’s books that trust a child’s inner world. It works beautifully during moments of hesitation, resistance, or when a child feels unsure about what comes next.

Warm, reassuring, and quietly funny, Now, Seymor invites readers to linger, look again, and remember the simple pleasure of imagining. Because sometimes it is okay to change your mind. Especially when joy is waiting right where you left it.

I love a curmudgeon

You Can Do it, Rudy Poots!

A playful bedtime rhymer about permission, imagination, and being a kid

You Can Do It, Rudy Poots! is a whimsical bedtime picture book that gives kids something simple and powerful: permission to be kids.

Rudy Poots has a head full of ideas. Big ideas. Silly ideas. Impossible ideas. Some might work. Many probably won’t. And that’s exactly the point.

Told in lively rhyme and packed with imaginative, fast-moving thoughts, Rudy Poots celebrates the way children naturally think. Jumping from one idea to the next, wondering what might happen, and wanting to try just because it’s interesting. The story never asks Rudy to succeed, improve, or learn a lesson. It simply lets curiosity exist for its own sake.

This cozy bedtime rhymer gently reminds children that trying new things does not have to lead anywhere at all. You can try something even if it doesn’t work. You can imagine wildly. You can wonder, dream, and experiment. And when the day is done, you can rest.

Parents, grandparents, educators, and counselors often choose You Can Do It, Rudy Poots! for children who are thoughtful, cautious, imaginative, or hesitant to try new experiences, foods, or ideas. Rather than pushing bravery or achievement, the book softens the pressure around trying by making it playful, low-stakes, and safe.

Rudy is intentionally gender-neutral, with illustrations designed to be open and ambiguous so any child can see themselves in the story. The rhythm and humor make it especially well-suited for repeated bedtime read-alouds, where children can relax into the silliness without feeling corrected or coached.

Educators and counselors appreciate Rudy Poots as a non-directive story that supports flexibility, creativity, and emotional ease without instruction or moralizing. It works beautifully in classrooms, counseling offices, and family settings where children benefit from reassurance rather than guidance.

Ideal for children ages 3–6, this charming bedtime rhyme is often reached for after long days, busy days, or days when nothing quite went as planned. It helps children wind down while quietly reinforcing an important idea: trying is allowed, imagination is welcome, and being a kid is enough.

If you are looking for a playful bedtime book, a rhyming picture book about imagination, or a gentle children’s story that celebrates curiosity without pressure, You Can Do It, Rudy Poots! is a joyful place to land.

Meenie the Weenie and the Subterranean Slam

A high energy, laugh out loud children’s picture book about friendship, focus, and what happens when the spotlight gets a little too bright

After her breakout success in the ring, Meenie the Weenie is invited to compete at the legendary Subterranean Slam, a secret wrestling event hidden beneath the snack world. The crowds are louder, the competitors are tougher, and the attention is bigger than anything she has ever known. When fans, selfies, and viral fame begin to pull her focus away from her partner, Meenie learns the hard way that winning does not always come down to strength or skill. Sometimes it comes down to who you show up for.

Packed with bold illustrations, fast paced wrestling action, and unforgettable food characters, this story delivers humor and excitement while quietly exploring loyalty, accountability, and second chances. It never teaches a lesson outright. Instead, it lets kids feel the moment and decide what matters.

Perfect for ages 4 to 8, Meenie the Weenie and the Subterranean Slam is ideal for read alouds with parents, classrooms, and counselors who value stories that trust children’s emotional intelligence. It is especially resonant for kids navigating teamwork, competition, or the pull between attention and connection.

Trippy Doodles: A 25-Year Retrospective by Melissa Green

Melissa Green creates dreamy, surreal worlds where the unexpected feels natural and safe. Her work is intentionally unnamed, inviting each viewer to find their own meaning and see themselves reflected in the imagery. Rather than directing interpretation, the art acts as a mirror to the subconscious.

Trippy Doodles: A 25 Year Retrospective traces the evolution of her practice from conscious experimentation to radical creative surrender. By quieting the inner editor and allowing imagination to lead, this body of work reflects a deeper belief that imagination is essential for growth, choice, and change. These strange and gentle companions have reshaped her inner world, and she invites you to imagine freely and reconnect with parts of yourself you may have forgotten.
