Melissa Green is able to create beautiful, dreamy scenes where the unexpected is commonplace. Surreal but not scary, her work invites interpretation, acting as a mirror to the viewer's subconscious. That’s why she stopped naming the paintings very early on - because she realized that everyone see’s this work their own way.
As you might expect, the work has evolved over 25 years. Over time, she stretched her conscious abilities to their limit, then turned inward. Now her aim is to kill the inner editor! To let go of the conscious framework accumulated over a lifetime. To allow. After applying this mindset to her work, Melissa also embraced it in her life. She began to ask: What could we see, do, or become if we didn't constantly talk ourselves out of it? She believes that having an imagination is the key to moving ourselves foreword. Without it, we can’t decide what’s for dinner, much less how to handle the myriad choices that populate a life. This body of work strengthened her imagination. It has changed her brain, and she believes it could change yours too.
Melissa hopes you give yourself the chance to imagine without limits again, to fire up old neural pathways and rebuild lost connections to yourself.
